KES newsletter December 14, 2022

Dear KES Families,

I hope you are well today! I’m sending my newsletter early this week to include a reminder that we are having a KES Friday Morning Meeting THIS Friday, December 16, 2022. We are excited to have another opportunity to include families with us here at KES. Our plan is to have KES Assemblies once or twice a month beginning in January and through May. This week’s agenda includes a song by the KES Chorus, a read-aloud by Mrs. Dixon, a motor break with Mr. Fulford, and a “winter clothing” skit by Mrs. Sirois and Mrs. Roubo. We will be wheeling the KES Lost and Found up to the lobby outside the cafeteria so parents can check for missing items after the assembly. Because students are still entering the building until 8:15am, we ask that parents coming for the assembly arrive no earlier than 8:20am. Each guest will need to check in by listing their name (print rather than signature) on one of several clipboards in the front of the building. There will be KES staff members along with KPD Officer Arnold in the front of KES to guide guests and pass out Visitor stickers. In order to prevent crowding in the lobby where classes will be filing through, we ask that guests go directly into the gym and be seated in the bleachers. Out of an abundance of caution, parents and grandparents are not allowed to walk with students back to their classrooms after the assembly. In fact, we will ask that parents/guests remain in the bleachers and allow students to exit the gym first once the meeting is over.

On a different note, I just wanted to thank all of the parents who attended the online training with Linda Price on Young Children and Anxiety. We had 55 families participate, which is much higher attendance that we’ve had for any training in the past. Linda will be back with us for a 2nd training in January. We will again offer a Parent evening session, and the topic will be executive functioning, so be on the lookout for more information to come!

There is still time to fill out the TNTP (School Satisfaction) Survey. Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts with us so we can make informed decisions regarding what is working and what is not working for parents, caretakers, and guardians… here  is the link  if you have missed it in the past. Thank you for taking a few minutes to fill it out!

And finally, I want to let everyone know how much fun the students (and staff!) are having at recess. Our new playground is so amazing! In fact, the word “amazing” doesn’t even do it justice. This playground has so many different elements to engage the children, they can't stop telling me about it when I see them in the halls. The kids love it, the staff are thrilled, in fact, seeing everyone out there enjoying it is such a gift.

Have a great weekend,
Yours in Education,

Mr. Quinn
