KES Newsletter October 7, 2022

October 7, 2022

Dear KES Families,

I hope you are all doing well on this beautiful autumn day. The leaves are really starting to change colors, and foliage should be really beautiful in the days to come. We had our first Alternate Location Evacuation Drill today where we evacuated to the front of the building instead of out to the playground. Once again we had a perfect drill, so please compliment your child on doing a great job!

As you know, October is Fire Safety month, and I spoke with Captain Howe from Kennebunk Fire and Rescue this week. He sent a short Fire Safety Video to share with our families. It’s a great little video to watch as a family and discuss with your child. This video was published by the National Fire Prevention Association and promotes this year’s fire safety theme of “The Sounds of Fire Safety.” Access the video by clicking the following link:  https://youtu.be/v0hZNCGJ0VA. You can also google Sparky.org where you will find many examples of web-based games for children.

Captain Howe also wanted you to know that the annual Fire Prevention Open House will happen on Sunday, October 16th, from 8:00am to 11:00am at the West Kennebunk Fire Station on Thompson Road. They do a really great job with this event, so please plan to bring the kids over, and see this LINK for more information.

Just a few reminders:

KEPTA meets a week from today, Friday October 14, 2022 at 8:30am, here at KES in room B135.

Picture Day at KES is Tuesday October 18, 2022. Dress them in their best!

Thank you for using the KES Absence Reporting Form  when your child will be out for any reason.

And finally, there is no school this Monday, October 10th in honor if Indigenous Peoples Day. We look forward to seeing everyone back here on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. I hope you all have a spectacular holiday weekend!

Yours in Education,
Mr. Quinn
